Castlebar - Mayo (Ireland):
Mystery surrounds a helicopter landing at a town park in Castlebar last week. Locals looked on in awe as the small helicopter landed at the newly developed park, close to Scoil Raifteirí, on Monday evening, January 10.
One person described the scene, noting that people arrived carrying what looked like fuel cans before the engine started up again and the helicopter took off. The Irish Aviation Authority insisted that permission should have been sought from the owner of the land before the helicopter could land.
However, when the Western People contacted Castlebar Town Council, a spokesperson confirmed that permission had not been sought to land on the new town park. However, if the helicopter didn’t fly within ten nautical miles of the airport, the pilot isn’t obliged
