It was a hot, dry day in Adelaide on January 26, 1966 with the temperature expected to top the old century mark.Aged nine, seven and four - Jane, Arnna (Arnna) and Grant Beaumont - travelled to nearby Glenelg Beach, still Adelaide's most popular seaside destination.
At the last minute, their father, Jim, decided not to accompany them.
It was a fateful decision.The children never returned and as the 40th anniversary of their disappearance draws near.
Despite an intensive police operation and a dizzying array of theories only one major lead emerged.The children were reported as having been seen with a tall, fair-haired man who seemed to be on friendly terms with them.
