Fuel Depot Explosion: Clues Destroyed as Fire Rages on
CBBC newsround
Hemel Hempstead (UK):
Clues to what might have caused a huge fire at a Hertfordshire fuel depot may have been destroyed by the fierce blaze, which is still burning.
Up to 200 schools in the area have been shut to keep kids safe from the smoke. The first of several explosions hit the Buncefield fuel depot just after 6am on Sunday, hurting 42 people, but luckily no-one was killed. Firefighters are now planning to cover the blaze with a blanket of millions of litres of foam and water.
Plans to battle the fire were delayed as people were worried that so much foam could actually harm the environment by polluting water supplies.
