Lahore (Pakistan):
Mysterious killings in the city have once again put a question mark on police vigilance, as police investigators have found no clue to the killers so far.
In May 2004, police claimed that it had arrested serial killer Liaqat Ali, who allegedly killed 11 people who were sleeping in public parks and on footpaths, only to snatch money. Even after the arrest of the alleged serial killers, four people have been killed in the city in the same way. Later during another wave of mysterious killings in July 2005, police claimed the arrest of serial killer Amir Qayyum, who allegedly killed around 14 people only to avenge the society against his maternal uncle’s murder.
The killer was an addict and mentally deranged. Around 33 citizens met mysterious deaths during the last two-and-half-years but not a single killer could be arrested.
