Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia):
Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid said Monday his visit to China on Dec 5 was concerning immigration issues, not because of the nude ear squat video clip incident involving a woman detainee who was believed to be a Chinese national.
He said his eight-day visit to China was following a directive of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on Nov 10, long before the video clip issue surfaced on Nov 24."The visit was postponed because on Nov 17 I was directed by the prime minister to go to Pakistan first on official matters," he said in a statement on his visit to China from Dec 5 to 12.
Azmi said coincidentally his visit, which was close to the East Asian Summit and Asean+3 in Kuala Lumpur, had been able to give some comfort in the meeting between China's Prime Minister Wen Jiabao and Abdullah throughout the summit.
