Elmont, New York (US):
A cloaked robber hopped the counter at an Elmont Blockbuster and went straight for the video drop box, Nassau police said yesterday.
The man, who may have had a gun wrapped in a plastic bag, walked into the store on Dutch Broadway at 10:30 p.m.
Monday and issued a single order to the two employees and one patron inside: "Don't move." He then rummaged through the video drop box and left the store without a glance at the cash register, police said.
The incident happened so quickly that employees were unsure yesterday if anything was taken, and police speculate that the robber or an associate may have left something such as drugs in that box earlier.
"That's the part that's perplexing," Det. Sgt. Robert Atchinson said. "We have no idea what he took."
