___________
Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India):
Mystery shrouds the death of Gaurav Modi, 24, of Unjha in Mehsana. Gaurav died on November 10 leaving several questions unanswered and little evidence for further investigation. Gaurav helped his father, Uttam Modi run their electronic goods shop in Unjha.
On November 10, Gaurav had gone to install a television set at a customers house. The victim's family told the police that while Gaurav was on his way back home, two unidentified persons standing on the roadside threw a colourless liquid at him. Initially the liquid had a cooling effect and later, it started burning.
He was rushed to a local hospital from where he was taken to the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. Gaurav died on the same night while he was being brought home. The post mortem report only added to the confusion.
It said that Gaurav's back had minor — two per cent — burn injuries but surprisingly his clothes were unaffected by the acidic fluid. According to the doctors, Gaurav died because of cardio-respiratory failure due to chemical burns. A plastic bag containing a colourless liquid was recovered from the spot. The forensic officials who tested the liquid said that it was water!
