Who is Snapping the Trees at Hartley Estate?

A Vandal has targeted trees which Withington residents planted to help improve the appearance of their estate earlier this year.
The culprit was spotted snapping in half three of the 97 trees planted on the Hartley Estate at around 8.30am on Monday, October 31.A letter has been sent out to all homes on the estate and police are treating the incident, which took place on Haslemere Road, as criminal damage to public property.
The cost of replacing the trees is £425.Pete Stringer, of the Red Rose Forest Trust, said: "The matter is being treated very seriously and if sufficient evidence is obtained a prosecution and a full recovery of the cost of rectifying the damage will be sought.The individually picked ornamental trees were planted by volunteers from the Hartley Estate Tree Planting Group, with the assistance of Red Rose Forest’s Green Streets team, experts in urban street greening, in the spring.
