New Delhi (India):
Even as it gropes for leads in the serial blasts, the special cell of the Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have found the key to another intriguing case, that of coaches being burnt at railway stations in the late 2003 and early 2004.
Sources say the police came to know of the accused, Akbar Sheikh, while investigating the blasts. Sheikh was recently arrested from near Worli in Mumbai. The police say that he was responsible for the mysterious fires that gutted coaches at several railway stations in 2003-04. Sheikh, who hails from Mumbai, had shifted to Delhi in 1996.
He fled back to Mumbai after the police began investigating the fire incidents. DCP (special cell) Ajay Kumar said Sheikh was involved in at least seven cases of dacoity and attempt to murder in Delhi.
