The Katahdin Press, in a front-page story this week, reported on the theft of Polstein-McLean signs from various places around town, including signs that had been placed on the lawn of Stearns Assisted Living.
With a simple telephone call, we have solved that mystery. According to Tom Malcolm, chief custodian of Stearns Assisted Living, the signs placed on private property owned by Stearns Assisted Living were removed by himself on Saturday, November 4 because Polstein and McLean had not obtained permission to place these signs on the property. The following day, additional signs were posted on this property, again without the permission of the owner, and they were also removed.
Again, signs were posted on the property, and they remain there today. The Magic City Morning Star has also heard from three residents who have told us that they removed Polstein-McLean signs from their own private property after finding that they had been placed there without permission.
