Kuala Lumpur (Malyasia):
Just who is the mysterious businessman who bought 300 copies of the book Skandal Seks Dan Rasuah Ruslin (Sex and Corruption Scandals of (Datuk) Ruslin (Hassan)? The book's author, Mohd Rafie Awang Kechik, 41, said he knew the man but was not close to him.
The businessman's motive for buying so many copies of a single book is anyone's guess."When he said he wanted to buy 300 copies of my book, I did not question it," Rafie told the New Straits Times today.
"After all, when someone wants to buy something from you, you just sell without asking too many questions."He has given the name of the businessman to the police to help facilitate investigations.Rafie, who is out on police bail, is not remorseful that he wrote the book containing allegations against Ruslin's (Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Ruslin Hassan) management style, his decisions on promotions, allocation of tenders and his alleged "affairs"."I knew the risks involved but was prepared for it," Rafie said.
"I am willing to testify if this goes to court."He denied being paid by anyone to write the book. He claimed the book was entirely his own initiative and he had written it after talking to several people who worked at City Hall, including senior officers.
