Mysterious Disease In Kafue Claims 5 Buffaloes

A mysterious disease has broken out in the Kafue South National Park in Itezhi Tezhi District where five buffaloes are reported to have died.
District Commissioner, Godfrey Beene disclosed this to the Zambia Information Services in Itezhi Tezhi today.
Mr. Beene said the disease has raised concerns to local leadership as it is posing a serious threat to the flourishing tourism.
He said a few days ago, another buffalo died and samples were rushed to Lusaka for diagnosis to determine the cause of death.
Mr. Beene however, said there is urgent need for veterinary staff to speed up the investigations of the disease to enable Government put in place measures to protect those that are not affected.
The District Commissioner expressed worry that any delay will compound the situation and the disease could spread to areas surrounding the park and attack cattle.
