Scott Township, Pennsylvania (US):
After two men searching for deer antlers found human remains in a wooded area in Scott Township, the county medical examiner's office made a positive identification last Friday.
Dental records proved the skull and other bones were indeed that of Jill McVey, a 34-year-old who has been missing from a Crafton group home since 1993.
Abdulrezak Shakir, acting medical examiner, reported that McVey sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and the death has been ruled a suicide.
Scott police took the initial report after the human remains were found and secured the scene until Allegheny County police homicide detectives arrived.
Police Chief Stan Butkus said the bones were found behind 1345 Meadowlark Drive at approximately 11 a.m., on March 7.
Crafton police searched for McVey more than 10 years ago, but the case was never solved.
