Slain "Curious George" writer Alan J. Shalleck maintained a low-key life in a double-wide trailer in a Boynton Beach, Fla., retirement community.
Police were still not saying how Shalleck died or if they had any suspects in his death, the Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported Thursday.The body of the 76-year-old writer was found by a maintenance man under a pile of trash in his yard Tuesday. Police said the body had been there for more than a day.
Although Shalleck had lived in the trailer for nearly a decade, neighbors described him as quiet and mysterious, saying he frequently kept to himself.Jerry Ballis told WPEC-TV News his longtime friend was "just an average guy."
