Fatal Shootings: Officials Looking for Answers
George Jared
Baxter Bulletin
__________
Mountain Home, Arkansas (US):
Why did 18-year-old Jacob D. Robida, a New Bedford, Mass., native, drive into the Twin Lakes Area on Saturday, kill a Gassville police officer and a female companion before being shot and killed himself during a gun battle with law officers in Norfork?
It's a question that still baffles investigators, and no one is releasing information as to why Robida was traveling through a remote area of Arkansas — far away from major interstate highways.
"We're going to keep a lid on this investigation until the case is closed," Ark-ansas State Police spoke-sman Bill Sad-ler told The Bulletin Monday. "There's no time limit on our investigators."

Two detectives from the New Bedford Police Department arrived in Arkansas Sunday to assist in the investigation, Sadler said.
Robida had been eluding authorities since he attacked three patrons with a hatchet and a gun inside a New Bedford gay bar Thursday. After the attack, investigators think Robida drove to Charleston, W.Va., were he picked up 33-year-old Jennifer Rena Bailey.
The duo likely traveled through Kentucky on their way to Arkansas.Sgt. C.J. Ellyson with the West Virginia State Police said his department doesn't know if Bailey left West Virginia willingly. Bailey, a divorcee and mother of three, had lived with Robida before Saturday's shootings for about a year, Ellyson said. The nature of the relationship between Robida and Bailey is unknown and may never be known, Ellyson said, noting Bailey did not have a criminal record.
