With all that could be said about the historic portrait of George Washington that sold over the weekend for a record-setting $21.3 million, what may be the most-asked question remained unanswered last night.Who bought it?A Yardley antiques dealer, who served as the middleman for the purchase of George Washington at Princeton on Saturday, said the buyer wanted to remain secret. Not even geography could be discussed.
Todd Prickett, partner in C.L. Prickett, would shed no light on whether the full-length, eight-foot-high portrait, marked "Philadelphia 1779," would be exhibited.
The full-length painting was one of eight of the nation's Revolutionary War leader and first president done by Charles Willson Peale between 1779 and 1781 - at least six of which are on public display.
