Chicken Deaths Now a Political Issue Too

Political parties have hit out at the provincial agriculture department for refusing to confirm whether it would investigate the mysterious death of hundreds of chickens in villages near Bhisho.
The senior manager for veterinary services in the province, Lubabalo Mrwebi, last week backtracked on his earlier refusal to comment on the issue and said “an investigation was launched on Wednesday.”
He did not know when a report on the matter would be available.Hundreds of chickens have been dying in the Frankfurt, Peelton and Khayelitsha area since September and villagers are puzzled by the cause.
