Lagos (Nigeria):
There is no information on the cause of the crash of the Nigerian airliner in the oil city of Port Harcourt on Saturday killing about 56 people on board, Nigeria's national radio reported.
It said seven to eight other people were injured in the crash involving a plane operated by Sosoliso Airlines.Sosoliso is a Nigerian airline that files daily between Lagos and other destinations inside the country.
The aviation industry of Africa's most populous country has grown dramatically in the past decade, but it has been struck by a number of fatal air crashes. In October, a Boeing 737 operated by Nigeria's Bellview Airlines crashed shortly after take-off from Lagos killing 117 on board.Investigators have been unable to find the flight data and voice recorders from the Bellview crash site near the village of Lissa, about 30km north of Lagos.
A private aircraft crashed on November 28 in the northern Nigerian city of Kaduna killing both people on board.
