Guess How Much the PM Weighs

Israelis were looking forward yesterday to the release of an official file that will reveal one of the most closely guarded secrets in the land: how much Prime Minister Ariel Sharon weighs.
The subject became a matter of legitimate public interest after Mr Sharon was admitted to hospital last week for two days for what doctors termed a minor stroke.
However, the press has been treating Mr Sharon's weight as if it were a how-many-beans-in-the-jar contest.
The daily newspaper Ma'ariv reported last week that the Prime Minister, whose waist has been expanding with the years, weighed 142kg. Yediot Achronot, Israel's largest-circulation daily, then challenged that reading with a report giving his weight as 110kg. Dietitians interviewed by Israel Radio called the latter figure absurd and estimated, on visual evidence alone, that Mr Sharon weighed between 140kg and 160kg.
The mystery was to be resolved at a press conference scheduled for late last night by Mr Sharon's doctors to discuss his condition. They were expected to provide detailed information about his physical condition, including his weight.
