An elderly woman who was murdered in her apartment at a St. Charles retirement community in August had some type of connection to her killer, police believe.
Theresa Lovasich, 87, was found dead in the bathtub of her apartment at Parkside Meadows Retirement Community on Aug. 21.
She was lying in cold water, dressed in her undergarments and socks.Police initially thought Lovasich's death was an accident, but an autopsy determined that she had been strangled, according to an application for a search warrant.
Her murder remains unsolved.St. Charles Police Capt. Pat McCarrick said in a recent interview that he believes Lovasich's murder was not a random act."The probability is that it is someone who has some connection either with the victim or that retirement center," said McCarrick. "It's unlikely that it was somebody who wandered in there off the street and then left."
