A school in California has been sent £1400 and a short unsigned note that confessed to vandalising the building in the early 1970s.
Shull Elementary School in San Dimas received the cheque and note admitting to the incident in 1972. The package was addressed to principal Chris Ann Horsley.
The author of the note said they felt bad about the vandalism and apologised for any upset the incident had caused.
It was signed by a "regretful baby-boomer".
