A series of recordings made by the man who shot John Lennon offer a chilling insight into the mind of the Beatle-obsessed killer.
For the first time ever, the voice of Mark Chapman can be heard explaining his actions. It comes in tapes of interviews he made ten years ago that have been aired on a US documentary. In the tapes broadcast on an NBC documentary, Chapman is heard saying:
"I want to kill him. Please, I want this so bad, so bad."
Speaking of the night of the murder in 1980, he said:
"I heard a voice in my head saying 'Do it, do it, do it' and as he passed me I walked and turned and pulled out the gun".
