Strange Odor Prompts school Evacuation

A suspicious odor led to the evacuation of an entire school Thursday morning. Firefighters responded to a call at Saint Mary's Catholic School on South 7th Street in Temple about a mysterious odor.
All of the students and staff were evacuated as the Temple Hazardous Materials unit tried to find the source. Officials believe the odor came from two one-gallon cans of roofing repair material in a storage closet.
The lids were not secure on the cans. Twenty-three people were evaluated on site and released.
