Woman's Death In Hotel Pool A Mystery

Mystery shrouds the case of an accident which occurred at a five-star hotel swimming pool on September 13.The victim, a 32-year-old Naga woman, slipped into a coma and is being treated for a "critical" medical condition at the Indian Spinal Injuries Centre at Vasant Kunj.Daughter of a former Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly, Mhasino was swimming at the pool of Hyatt Regency in southwest Delhi following a breakfast at the poolside.Mhasino apparently started to sink into the pool, where she regularly swam.
According to the police, she had gone to the pool with a female friend, also a Naga, about 8 am.There are unconfirmed reports that suggest that she was invited to the hotel by a guest from New Zealand. The two women had breakfast at the poolside and about 10 am, they went for a dip in the pool.
Suddenly, Mhasino started going down and called for help. She was pulled out by a lifeguard who tried to revive her by pumping water out of her lungs. She was also given artificial respiration and later rushed to Indian Spinal Injuries Centre where she her condition has been critical for the past week.
Dr A S Kohli, in charge of the Heart Command at ISIC, said: "Her condition is critical — she is suffering from Brain hypoxia. She was brought to the casualty with a cardiac arrest and is in the ICU now.Since it is a post-drowning case, we can't comment on what happened before that." There are varied versions on what could have caused her to drown.
