Mystery Of Boy In Road

A Teenager is desperately ill in hospital after he was found badly hurt next to a main Huddersfield road.Mystery surrounds how the 17-year-old had suffered a serious head injury. He was found unconscious on Wakefield Road, Aspley just after 1am on Monday, opposite the Somerset Arms between Kings Mill Lane and Somerset Road.He was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary then transferred to Leeds General Infirmary for specialist care after it was discovered he had bleeding to the brain.
He is now in a critical condition.Police are unsure how he came by his injury but someone claiming to be a friend of the teenager contacted the Examiner claiming he had been attacked. The friend said the teenager had been having problems with a group of youths since his bike was stolen in January and he reported the theft to police.
"Ever since then they have taunted, chased and threatened to kill him," said the friend.He is not thought to have reported the problems to police, even though it is understood they may have confronted him last weekend and punched him.
Police want to speak to a 28-year-old student, thought to be from the Moldgreen area, who helped the teenager at the scene.
