Man Shot Woman, Himself; But How The Infant Die?
South Ogden (United States):
Unit 24B at Villa South Apartments has stood out for a while. Unlike other apartments on its side of a three-story building, 24B's porch is bare. No patio furniture. No children's toys. But 24B stood out in a sinister way on Friday when police discovered the bodies of a young man, a young woman and an infant. The man apparently shot the woman, then himself, said police Chief Val Shupe. A weapon was recovered at the scene. The murder-suicide was the fourth in Utah this year. It was unclear on Friday how the infant, who was less than 6 months old, died. A medical examiner will conduct autopsies on the bodies. Police did not release the names on Friday, saying they were still trying to notify family. Allyson Gallegos, manager at Villa South, 3755 S. Grant Ave., said residents had complained about a bad odor in that building for 1 1/2 weeks. She investigated and knocked on 24B once. No one answered. Shortly before 10 a.m., she then went to 24B, opened the door and was hit by a terrible odor. She called police. Officers entered the apartment and found the bodies. Shupe said the bodies were "somewhat badly decomposed" and investigators are seeking clues indicating how long the three might have been dead, though it appears they were dead for more than a week.
