Aurora, Toronto (Canada):
Wendy Lafleche finished her shift at her hairdressing salon late Saturday afternoon buzzing about her children's antics, as usual, and looking forward to a night at home with the family she adored.
By dawn the next morning, police had found Mrs. Lafleche, 41, and her two youngest children, three-year-old Jesse and seven-year-old Victoria, murdered in their home, and had arrested the children's father after stopping him during a high-speed chase on Highway 400.
The triple murder is the third such family homicide in the Toronto area in as many weeks, with six young children now dead, apparently killed by one of their parents.York Regional Police say the man in custody in the latest triple murder is Mrs. Lafleche's husband and the father of the two children killed.
Friends identified him as John Lafleche. Police said he is the only suspect in the case.Mrs. Lafleche's oldest son, 15-year-old Devon, was not at the family's Yonge Street home at the time of the murders. He has a different father than his younger brother and sister but normally resides with his mother and siblings and is often seen walking his sister to school in the neighbourhood.
