Venezuelan authorities remain in the dark about the fate of three Canadian boys kidnapped in the South American country two weeks ago, along with their driver.
"No news at all," the boys' aunt, Rose Faddoul, told the Toronto Star yesterday while driving near her Windsor-area home.
Faddoul has said previously that Venezuelan kidnappers are demanding $4.5 million (U.S.) for the boys' release and have been in touch with the youngsters' father several times since the boys were seized on their way to school in Caracas late last month.
Both Sergio Gonzalez, chief inspector of the kidnap division of the Venezuelan Judicial Police said no communication of any kind has been received from the kidnappers since Feb. 23, the same day the boys — John Bryan Faddoul, 17, and his brothers Kevin, 13, and Jason, 12 — were seized just a few hundred metres from the home in Caracas where they live with their Canadian-born father, John, and his Venezuelan wife, Gladys Diad.
