Jill Carroll, the kidnapped US journalist held in Iraq, has appeared in a new video, weeping and appealing for the release of women Iraqi prisoners.
The video, aired by Aljazeera on Monday, showed Carroll wearing a veil but carried no sound.Aljazeera said the 28-year-old journalist appealed for the release of women Iraqi prisoners.The footage had a time signature with the date 28 January.
Aljazeera's newscaster said in the video Carroll appeals to the US military and the Iraqi Interior Ministry to release all women in their prisons and that this "would help in winning her release".
Armed men abducted Jill Carroll, a freelance reporter for the Christian Science Monitor, on 7 January in Baghdad and threatened to kill her unless all Iraqi women prisoners were released.Her translator was shot dead during the kidnapping.
