Birmingham (UK):
A kind-hearted stranger has entered into the festive spirit by leaving Christmas cards containing £30 on people's windscreens underneath parking tickets.
Caroline Howard, aged 27, was Christmas shopping in Birmingham city centre and returned to her car to find a traffic warden had given her a £30 fine. But when she took the yellow ticket off her car she found a Christmas card underneath - and when she opened it £30 fell out.A note in the card read 'Don't let this ticket spoil your Christmas - here's £30 to pay it off - Merry Christmas'.
The card was signed 'Parking Ticket Santa', and was addressed to 'Christmas ticketing victim 14' - suggesting the mystery figure had helped at least 13 other motorists, at a cost of £420. A spokeswoman for Control Plus, the company in charge of handing out parking tickets, said: "I think it must be someone's idea of a joke but I guess it must be a pleasant surprise for whoever got them."
