________
The family of a murdered factory worker today appealed to two anonymous callers who claimed to have information about the killing to contact police. The mysterious calls were made in the days after a television documentary took a fresh look at the brutal slaying of Robert Higgins. The 35-year-old's body was found dumped in an abandoned quarry in West Lothian ten years ago. The programme, entitled Unsolved, examined the case which is currently undergoing a review by detectives.
Two men contacted the incident room set up at Livingston Police Station shortly after its broadcast and said they could help the inquiry. One caller left a message on a police answer machine on Saturday lunchtime, adding that he may be eligible for the £5500 reward. The reward, which was put up by Robert's family and friends, is for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of his killer.
The second caller contacted detectives at lunchtime on Tuesday and said he would call them back another time. Robert's sister, Brenda Walker, today joined detectives to urge the men to get back in touch.
