Mouse in Pizza
Ballarat Courier
____________
Adelaide (Australia):
Peter Box was a huge fan of McCains Pizza ... until Saturday night. The Adelaide man was about to sink his teeth into another piece of ham and pineapple pizza when he realised a dead mouse was stuck to its base.
His girlfriend and son, who had also eaten a few slices, watched in horror as he dropped the pizza on the floor and threw up. The frozen pizza was made at the Ballarat factory of McCain Foods (Australia). The 36-year-old contacted McCain Foods on Monday and was visited by a company representative on Tuesday.
He did not give the contaminated pizza to McCain Foods, preferring to have it independently tested. Tests at Adelaide Zoo yesterday confirmed that the rogue mouse was caught during the production process.
The zoo believes the rodent was caught between the cooking and packaging process because it wasn't toasted. The mouse has been sent to a pathology lab to determine where it came from, and if it contained any poisons. The results are expected within 10 days.
