North Miami (US):
Delays in restoring power thwart even the bad guys. But minutes before crews were finally going to restore power to a North Miami home this week, a maid stumbled on a disturbing discovery in the laundry room:
an incendiary device timed to go off with the return of electricity.North Miami detectives believe the attempted arson may be part of a family feud that involves mysterious phone calls, fake news releases and another incendiary device lodged in a car's gas tank.
''I've been on the force 16 years and I've never seen anything like this,'' North Miami Detective John Mayato said. The apparent target:
Simone Richardson, 64, mother of two adult sons, who lives in the gated San Souci neighborhood in North Miami.
Richardson could not be reached for comment, while investigators are tight-lipped about how the device was crafted and possible suspects and motives.
