Orpington, Kent (UK):
An offer for 70 acres of green belt land on the site of the borough's oldest farm has been received.
Estate agents have confirmed that a firm bid for Tripes Farm, in Chelsfield Lane, Orpington, has been accepted after. They site, they said, attracted 'considerable interest'.
However, they have refused to say who is set to buy the historic farm, which was put on the market in September with a guide price of £1,500,000.
Potential purchasers of the 'diverse downland', which is now used to house commercial buildings and car boot sales, were asked to submit their best offers by October 17.
According to estate agents RH and RW Clutton, the annual rent from the site from nine commercial buildings and a telephone mast amounts to almost £80,000 a year.
A further £11,000 income comes from renting out land at Tripes Nursery and the 14 car boot sales held each year bring in £29,800.
