Panchkula, Chandigarh (India):
Mystery shrouds the death of the controversial Shiv Narayan Dass (70), popularly known as Nepali Baba, who was found dead at Ashram Shiv Sakati Sidh Peth near Mansa Devi shrine on Sunday.
Baba's follower Sanjeev Bhardwaj, national president of All India Hindu Suraksha Samiti (AIHSS), has however alleged that there may be some foul play in his death, probably at the behest of his companion Raj Bala. "A former excise and taxation officer from UP, Raj Bala had been living with Babaji for two years. Last week, Babaji spoke of being attacked, though he later said that things were okay. On Sunday afternoon, we came to know about his death and that Raj Bala had left with her children," Bhardwaj added.
"They had dinner. Then, around midnight, Babaji vomited and fell unconscious. As anxious followers made enquiries, Mataji (Raj Bala) said that he has gone to Kailash Parbat," baba's followers told the police.
Interestingly, not realising the need to rush the baba to hospital, the followers started offering prayers, waiting for him to wake up.
Police officials said: "We have collected some samples and sent the body for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact time and cause of death.
We are trying to identify the woman and those who were in touch with victim for last few days. We will also look into the threatening calls and other allegations."
