New confusion over Kovco's last minutes

______
Confusion surrounds the death of Australia's first soldier killed in Iraq, with Defence Minister Brendan Nelson changing his account of the shooting.
Defence chief Angus Houston denied a cover-up but remained tightlipped about the death of Private Jake Kovco pending an inquiry.
Dr Nelson and Air Chief Marshal Houston both insist the death of Private Kovco was a tragic accident in which he was fatally shot with his 9mm Browning pistol.
Private Kovco's mother Judy said the family was at a loss to understand how someone so familiar with guns could die in a shooting accident, and demanded of the army: "Tell me the truth."
Private Kovco, 25, a member of the Australian security detachment in Baghdad, died on Friday when his pistol discharged and a bullet hit him in the head.
The mystery surrounding the death comes amid the bungled return of his remains to Australia after another body was mistakenly sent in its place.
