ATSB Fails to Find Cause of Fatal Plane Crash

The bureau that controls Australia's airspace has apologised to the families of six people killed in a plane crash near Benalla in Victoria in 2004.Alan Stray from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) says the cause of the accident remains a mystery.
"We will never know why the pilot descended and entered the pattern that he did," he said.On the day of the crash the plane had veered up to four degrees off course, after a detour along the New South Wales coast between Sydney and Benalla.
The investigation did reveal air traffic controllers had failed to tell the pilot when two tracking alarms were activated.
