Border Jumper Drownings: South Africa Deny

Up to 60 Zimbabweans were believed drowned trying to cross the Limpopo River into South Africa illegally, and a search for the bodies had been called off, the country’s state-owned radio reported yesterday.But South African police yesterday said they knew of no such drownings.
Superintendent Ronel Otto denied media reports that South African police had assisted in the search for the bodies.Reports said the South African Civil Protection Unit (which police say does not exist) had joined in the search for bodies along a 60km stretch of the river, which was in flood.
