Bachha (Nepal):
Locals at Bachha VDC of Parbat are still haunted by the nightmares of a local woman's mysterious murder last month.
They could neither celebrate Dashain, the greatest festive of Hindus, nor are they in a mood to enjoy Deepawali due to the horrifying circumstances of the murder.Saraswoti Parajuli, a resident of the VDC was abducted by Maoists on October 4. After four days, the Maoists informed her family members about her death.
The Maoists had abducted Saraswoti on charges of being an accomplice in her daughter-in-law's murder. The Maoists gave a letter to her relative, Shiva Lal, claiming that she had suffered a heart attack. Along with the letter they also returned some of her ornaments to the family. Maoists, however, did not hand over her body.
However, her brother Ram Krishna Sharma also claimed that Saraswoti had died due to mental as well as physical torture, having been forced to walk for hours and the Maoists' pressure to concede to the charge of murder.
