To Find her, He Floods County with Signs
Oakdale, PA (United States):
A Wexford County man has posted signs throughout Oakdale in hopes of finding a woman who captured his heart at Conneaut Lake Park over Labor Day weekend.
The bright pink signs read "Jody call Doug. We danced at Conneaut," and then list Doug's phone number.
Doug Coates, a 46-year old industrial technician described himself as shy, but said he posted the signs because he may have accidentally given Jody the wrong phone number after they met at the park's Beach Club.
He believes they shared something special on the dance floor and really wants to see her again.
"I know my inside wasn't lying to me," said Coates.
After seeing Coates share three dances with Jody, his friend pulled him aside and asked him if he'd ever heard of soul mates or believed in love at first sight. Coates answered, "yes" and minutes later Jody took his hand and guided him back out onto the dance floor.
"(She) looked at me with a glow on her face words can't explain. Her eyes looked like God filled them with stars from the heavens," wrote Coates via e-mail.
Coates and Jody's magical night was interrupted when Jody's sister decided it was time to go.
Before leaving, Jody asked Coates outside and told him she didn't have a pen to write down her number.
Coates had written his number down earlier that evening, but it was dark. He fears it may have been illegible or he may have given her his old cell phone number.
"Her leaving came so sudden, and me having zero experience, I lost her. That is why I put the signs up, hoping she would see them," said Coates, who still can't believe what he did.
He has had two missed calls from restricted numbers on his cell phone since he posted the signs a couple weeks ago. The callers did not leave messages.
Coates hasn't given up hope. Last weekend he went with friends to the Rhythm House in Bridgeville, a place where Jody mentioned she often went. Coates said he and his friends also frequent the night club and he had remembered seeing Jody's brother-in-law there in the past.
All Coates knows about Jody is that she is from Oakdale and has been divorced for three years.
He described her as a being around 40 years old, approximately five-foot-four, with light brown hair and "cute."
"I never had anybody quite look at me like this girl," said Coates.
