Soldier Kills Himself After Digging Own Grave

A former Croatian soldier who decided to take his own life started by digging a grave and then blew himself up with a grenade and fell into it, police in the east of the former Yugoslav republic said on Tuesday.
It was not known why 55-year-old Slavko Cudina, a resident of the town of Lasovac, decided to kill himself, police said.
However they had concluded that after digging his grave, he detonated a hand grenade at chest height. He was later found in the open grave.
The police told the Hina news agency that Cudina had served in the Croatian army during the 1991-1995 war between ethnic Serbs and Croats, which erupted during the break-up of the former Yugoslavia.
