School Illness Psychosomatic: Doctors

Doctors are labeling a mysterious illness at a Pittsfield Township high school as psychosomatic, Local 4 reported.
School officials met with parents of students at Saline High School Wednesday night to answer questions after 28 students experienced headaches and dizziness last week, Local 4 reported. The school was forced to evacuate twice in three days and closed Friday while environmental crews tried to locate a source for the illness.

Several students passed out and went to the hospital, according to Local 4 reports. About 1,800 students and faculty members were forced to evacuate to the school's football field Sept. 27 and Sept. 29.
The Environmental Protection Agency conducted an extensive air quality test that determined the school was negative for toxic substances.
"So far, we haven't found anything," said Saline Area Schools school board president Art Trapp.
Initial environmental test results on Sept. 27 and a second test conducted by an independent company were also negative for toxins, the station reported.
