Mumbai (India):
Two days after thousands of dead fish washed ashore the beaches of Mumbai, preliminary tests suggest the fish could have died because of pollution.
Scientists at the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE) say the answers may lie in the water samples taken from the polluted beaches of Juhu and Versova.
However, local fishermen say the fish, mostly of the Moray Eel species, died after getting caught in their nets.
Apart from the Moray Eels, the CIFE team also found species of Hilsa, Horse Mackerel, crabs and some types of tuna.
There's no shortage of theories about what actually caused these fish to die, but with many agencies investigating the bizzare happening, a conclusive finding will only be reached in a week's time.
