Bomb Squad Investigates Package in Car Near US Capitol

Local bomb squad personnel were called upon Friday to investigate a mysterious package in a car stopped by police near the US Capitol in Washington DC Friday after the two men riding in the car said the package was a bomb.
Several streets near the US Capitol buildings were closed off by Capitol police while the car and its package was being probed by the Capitol bomb squad, a spokesperson for the Capitol police said.
Though US Senate and House of Representatives buildings were not evacuated."The two individuals approached our officers and advised them that they believed they had a suspicious package in their vehicle," a Capitol police spokeswoman said.
"There is a package in the vehicle which is why we put in place the street closures," she said.
