Mystery Of Body Find On Dunes
St Annes (UK):
Mystery today surrounded the death of a man whose body was found on sand dunes in St Annes. A post mortem over the weekend proved "inconclusive" and further tests will now have to be carried out.The grim discovery was made by a member of the public on Friday afternoon on dunes close to the New Thursby Rest Home, in Clifton Drive North.Police said the body was badly decomposed and they were unsure how long it had been there.Det Supt Graham Gardner, who is leading the investigation, said officers were trying to piece together the last movements of the dead man. He said: "Our investigation is continuing."We are now carrying out further tests after the post mortem proved inconclusive. I believe that was due to the poor condition of the body. Officers are also trying to establish the identity of this man."We have not been able to do so yet, but we have several leads and progress is being made."Over the weekend police searched missing persons files and spoke to other forces around the UK in an effort to establish the identity of the man.A fingertip search of the sand dunes was also carried out in order to put together a picture of the events leading up to Friday's discovery.
