Cause of Mukesh Duggal’s Death Remains Elusive

Even eight years after the incident, the real cause of Mukesh Duggal’s death remains a mystery. Duggal was shot by two unidentified men near Seven Bungalows in March, 1997.
While Duggal’s wife blamed Monica Bedi for his murder, industry sources say that he had double-crossed the underworld gang leaders, Abu Salem and Chhota Rajan.
The wife’s version of the story is that Monica’s complaint to Abu Salem against Duggal’s harassment was the cause of his death. A crime branch official agreed with her claims and said, “We think it was Monica behind his death. I don’t know about any other reason behind the crime.”
However industry sources, who were then close to Duggal and did not wish to be named said, “I have worked with Mukeshji for a long period of time. I knew him and Salem very well.They shared good relations. But Duggal tried to double-cross Salem as he was also on good terms with Chhota Rajan. He used to take money from both Rajan and Salem for his movies. When Salem came to know the truth, he got rid of him. Monica was never in the picture.” For now Duggal’s death is a mystery that can only be solved by Salem, Bedi or Salem’s close associates.
