Mystery device washes up at Mayaro

Mayaro (Trinidad):
Police are investigating the source of a metal device apparently containing some chemical gas which washed ashore last Friday at Stonebright Beach, Mayaro. The cylindrical instrument was found on the beach by Clinton Lewis, who was vacationing with his family in a beach house located 200 feet from the sea.
Lewis refused to speak to the media about his discovery, but the Sunday Express learnt that Lewis found the device around 6 p.m. on Friday.
Mayaro police was contacted yesterday morning and the Fire Services was called in to determine whether it was an explosive device. The device was sent to the hazardous section of the Fire Services Department.
Fire Services in turn sent it to the Forensic Science Centre in Port of Spain for analysis.
