Mystery Over City's £3m Lotto Winner
Coventry (UK):
The winner of an unclaimed Lotto ticket worth £3 million which was bought in Coventry has still not come forward to claim the prize.
The lucky Lotto player, who still doesn't know they've become a millionaire three times over, bought the ticket in the city on Wednesday, August 10, the day of the draw. Lotto bosses Camelot believe the lucky winner may have bought the ticket then gone on holiday and forgotten to check the numbers.
They are urging players to search in their pockets for the old ticket and check to see if they are the winner of a whopping £3,074,019. The numbers were 8, 15, 30, 31, 34, and 43, and the ticket-holder has until 5.30pm on February 6, 2006, to claim. Camelot has enlisted the support of ice hockey grand-slam winners, the Thomsonfly Coventry Blaze, at the Skydome, to encourage people to check their tickets.
Winger Dave Kaczowka, aged 24, said he would be "gobs-macked" to win the cash" and quipped that if no one claims it he's more than happy to look after the winnings. Team-mate Mark Lefebvre, aged 23, from Ottawa, Canada, said he would buy a house in Dubai, and added: "I think I'll have to go and check any tickets I've bought lately."
Fabian Devlin, spokesman for Camelot, said: "It's been just over six weeks since the draw and the ticket holder has still to come forward to claim this life-changing prize. "We have enlisted the help of the Coventry Blaze to try to jog the memories of Lottery play-ers and, fingers crossed, the winner will come forward." Mr Devlin said that on August 10, James Blunt was top of the charts with You're Beautiful and the day before Coventry City drew 0-0 away at Millwall
